The Surf

Sa'Moana Resort has been Samoa's Premier Surf Tour Operator for over Sixteen Years. We know all the Best Breaks and we get you to them in style in one of our 24ft or 28 ft Fast Fibreglass Boats.

North Shore

Dragon’s Breath: A one hour 10 minute drive this is an amazing wave, if you can surf Back Door Pipe you’ll love this wave, it’s for serious chargers only

Pudding Rock: (aka The Rock) a short playful right breaking over rocks, easy paddle out and access, around a 1 hour 20 minute drive

Laulii: Also around 1 ½ hour drive it’s an excellent right that winds down a small point/spit into a tropical bay with a hollow first section.

Solosolo: Around a 1 ¾ hour drive it’s a fairly long right hand wave with bowl sections and down the line fun set behind the Solosolo village

Fagaloa Bay: The most amazing bay (not unlike T-Tree Bay at Noosa) is approx a 1 ¾ hour drive with 4 separate right hand reefs running down its eastern shore. Needs an exact swell direction and is not all that easy to access.

Tiavea: Is about an hour and a half drive from Sa’Moana and has several breaks

Left Point: At the western side of the bay this is a great       challenging wave with the right swell direction

The River Mouth: a fun mainly left hander with the occasional peaky right

The Peak: a Sunset style right hand peak right in the middle of the bay that has a great drop and provides some great tubes, and moderate length rides. Reputedly holds up to 15ft. At times a left also breaks off the peak

Missions: a great fun right hander on the eastern side of the bay

South Shore

Resorts: Two fun waves right out in front of the resort, they need a west to SW swell to be at their best.

Village Lefts: A down the line left hand wave, with some great bowls, within about an 8 minute walk from Sa’Moana Resort

Special K: this great right hander is just 10 minutes out from the mooring, its super fun.

Pebbles: Is a short punchy very hollow left and only a 28 minute boat ride from our mooring

Barras: Is a 25 minute boat ride and features an amazing very hollow right hander

Wackas: Is, by its name, a very fun wackable left hander that on its day can be a challenge and is just past Barra’s

Coconuts: A 35 minute boat ride from our mooring is an incredibly hollow right-hander that has been compared to HT’s in the Mentawais. Holds up to around 10ft

Inside Siumu: Is a 37 minute boat ride is a short fun left with wackable walls

Outside Siumu: A 40 minute boat ride is little more serious that “Inside” with longer and bowlier sections.

Aganoa: Otherwise known as Boulders, is a classic left hand point style break that is fully protected in the SE trades. The inside section sucks up over dinner plate coral.
Can hold up to 15ft + Boulders is a 45 minute boat ride from our mooring

Nuusafee Island: 10 minutes past Boulders this classic break is also called Devils Island (aka The Island) due to it being a Samoan cultural site. A very fast left hand wave with big sections on the outer reef and the inside that can provide some mind blowing barrels. Also holds up to around 15ft +

Spot X: A 45 minute boat ride to the west this is a short sometimes very hollow powerful right hander

Y-Tops: Just around the bay from Spot X this is a great left that has it all, classic waves and an amazing setting.

These are only a few of the places we have access to, and as mentioned previously there are more unnamed and unchartered breaks available to guests of the resort, with the right swell direction combined with tide, winds and season anything can happen.

Robert Louis Stevenson Museum

The guided tour through the RLS museum reveals the man behind the classics - are Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
A literary celebrity during his lifetime, Stevenson now ranks among the 26 most translated authors in the world. His works have been admired by many other writers, including Jorge Luis Borges, Bertolt Brecht, Marcel Proust, Arthur Conan Doyle, Henry James, Cesare Pavese, Ernest Hemingway, Rudyard Kipling, Jack London, Vladimir Nabokov, J. M. Barrie, and G. K. Chesterton, who said of him that he "seemed to pick the right word up on the point of his pen, like a man playing spillikins".
Stevenson found adventure and his final resting place in Samoa.
