| The Nusa Dewata Story |
Nusa Dewata can be translated from the Balinese language as "Island of the Gods".
The KM Nusa Dewata is a beautiful 57' (14' beam) wooden sloop rigged motor sailor commissioned in Lembongan back in 1992 by previous owners and operators Mark Coleman and Albert Taylor from Australia.
Mark and Albert, being Master Mariners, fishermen, and surfers, had over 20 years experience operating boats in Australia and Indonesia.
Together with the loyal Indonesian crew they served close to 1000 surfers….. they know what surfers wanted!

The Nusa Dewata was built as an Indonesian charter vessel and has been fitted to approved safety standards to take passengers to sea.
She has all the survey required safety equipment which includes a 15 man life raft, flares, life jackets, fire fighting equipment, Icom SSB radio VHF radio, 2 hand held radios, EPIRB, GPS, depth sounder and an extensive first aid kit for all sorts of emergencies.

 She is fitted with a reliable Mitsubishi PS 100 hp main engine and a 1500 litre fuel tank giving her over 500 nautical miles range with a cruising speed of 8 knots. She is powered by an Onan 8kva/240 volt generator. The water tank also holds 1500 litres. Nusa Dewata has a newly re-planked hardwood hull with full teak decking and interior.
There is a laptop computer, weather fax and ididium sat phone on board. Also there is an ipod, TV, and DVD player for entertainment.
Down below is a comfortable dorm style accommodation, fully air conditioned with marine toilet and shower facilities.
There is also an outdoor shower.
As well as being one of the prettiest boats in the fleet, she is accompanied by a trusty 15’ aluminium tender with a 60hp
outboard to ferry guests to the surf spots and for recreational fishing and snorkelling.
We supply extensive game fishing equipment and snorkelling gear. We specialise in budget small group, family, and father and son charters, longboarders and all girl trips. We do not subscribe to the ‘instant crowd’ factor which is what you get on all other larger vessels in the archipelago.
We can also travel to the Telos Islands on request.
The Nusa Dewata has plenty of shaded deck area both forward and rear for guests to relax and enjoy their surroundings and contemplate their next surf session.

| SURF |
Only recently discovered as one of the best surf zones on the planet, the Mentawai Islands are now well established on the surfers map. Situated 90 km off the west coast of Sumatra these pristine islands are home to countless coral reefs that attract dynamic swells from deep in the Indian Ocean to create picture perfect waves of all shapes and sizes. The variety and quality of surf is mind boggling!!
The Nusa Dewata has been plying these waters for 10 surfed out years providing guests with the surf of their dreams.
There are bommies, barrels, grinding lefts, pumping rights, mal waves and intermediate waves.
We can cater to all standards of surfing ability and will try our upmost to keep our guests distanced from any crowds.

SKIPPER
Simon Dale purchased the Nusa Dewata in November 2006 after being a part owner since 2002.
He worked as a cray fisherman in Western Australia for 2 years as well as diving on oilfield rigs in SE Asia in the early 1980’s. He then moved on to delivering yachts around the world for a number of years experiencing just about every possible situation the seven seas could throw at him.
He has been extensively surfing in Indonesia since 1979 and around the Mentawai Islands since 1996. He has limited medical training and will be happy to “stitch you up” if the occasion arises at no extra expense.
Chartering the Nusa Dewata is a new experience for him and with his vast experience will endeavour to maintain the solid reputation that the Nusa Dewata has held in the archipelago for the last 10 years.

CHARTERS
Nusa Dewata Surf Charters run 12 days in duration, including 11 days on location.
Depending on the circumstance, there may be a possibility of lengthening the charter booking. We cater for a minimum 5 and maximum 6 persons for each charter. Charters include all meals, snacks, soft drinks, bottled water, 3 beers per day, transfers to/from airport or hotel to Nusa Dewata and all government taxes, harbour clearances, and permits.

Our Australian trained Indonesian chef will blow your taste buds away with generous helpings of tasty energy filled Indonesian and western dishes guaranteed to satisfy even the fussiest eaters.
The Nusa Dewata was selected as 1 of 4 vessels chartered for the 2000 Surfer magazine / OP pro contest in Mentawais and has been featured in numerous mags and videos. She also played a key role in the 2004 tsunami relief effort.
